Welcome to this Illustration course from Mentor Steve Savalle. This course focuses on perspective drawing from 1, 2 and 3 point perspective. It will also cover basic illustration and shading techniques with common sketching tools. To finish this course you will see Steve's process in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to put together an illustration. This is an introductory course and was designed for beginners to perspective drawing, shading and software processes.
The main way you'll improve in your understanding of perspective drawing and shading, is to practice. Make sure you get out your pencils, paper and blending stumps and create your own original illustrations. In this first week Steve shows you one-point perspective. Each week continues on to the next step of complexity. The course finishes with demo's in photoshop and illustrator.
The goal is to make sure you understand the basics of perspective and how pencil and paper can translate to rendered 2d artwork. You should have a solid understanding of horizon lines and using point perspective as a tool. You should understand the idea behind placing a light source and creating shading accordingly. You should understand how to use Photoshop and Illustrator to complete an illustration that started on paper.
As you buy your tools and create your first illustrations please share your process with us, we'd love to see what you create. If your a fully enrolled mentorship student, post in the private Slack forum. If you're just taking this course hit us up on twitter, instagram or facebook (@mographmentor) and show us what you make.
